The Environmental Protection Department today announced it recorded 61 convictions for pollution offences in December.

Eleven convictions were for air pollution, nine for noise, 19 for illegal waste disposal and four for water pollution.

There were also 18 under the Public Cleansing & Prevention of Nuisances Regulation.

The heaviest fine was $25,000 given to a company for contravening the provisions of a licence.
