More than 30 leading figures and professionals from world-renowned museums are gathering in Hong Kong to share their foresight and innovative ideas on museum development as the Second Museum Summit opened today.

 

Officiating at the two-day summit’s opening ceremony, Secretary for Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah said it provides a timely platform to stimulate minds while museums around the world are facing new challenges brought about by new technologies, rapid changes in people’s lifestyles and booming choices for cultural activities.

 

He said Hong Kong aspires to be at the forefront of museum development, adding that the Government attaches great importance to upgrading the city's cultural facilities and strives to enrich the local museum ecology through launching new developments.

 

Themed on “Formation & Transformation”, the Second Museum Summit is presented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department in partnership with the British Museum.
