Lantern shows open

September 11, 2019

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will present lantern displays and lighting installations to celebrate the coming Mid-Autumn Festival.

A lighting installation entitled "Wishing Pavilion", inspired by the unique custom of burning tower lanterns in South China, will illuminate Victoria Park's soccer pitch No. 1 from September 13 to 27.

Some 5,000 bricks made from upcycled high-density polyethylene will form the pavilion's outer wall.

Another highlight at Victoria Park is a traditional paper crafting exhibition that will run until September 15. A golden dragon lantern crafted by a local master portraying the image of a flying and dancing dragon, reflects the exquisite workmanship of traditional paper crafting.

Lantern carnivals are also being held at Sha Tin Park and Tsuen Wan Park until September 15.
