Customs seized 13 suspected unsafe laser pointers from a retailer in Sham Shui Po on August 23.

Test results revealed that the products were not equipped with safety control devices. The laser pointers were also marked with warnings in English only.

A notice was served on the retailer, prohibiting the continued sale of the product.

Customs noted the product contravened the Consumer Goods Safety Ordinance and its subsidiary legislation and called on people to avoid eye contact with the beam it emits.
