Island traffic alert issued

July 21, 2019

The Police have appealed to the public today to stay tuned to crowd management measures and special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island.

Police believe that there will be more people in Wan Chai than usual as a number of public events will be held, including the Hong Kong Book Fair at the Convention & Exhibition Centre.

For public activities held in the vicinity of Wan Chai, the participants will disperse near MTR Wan Chai Station. Police expect that the area near the station and O’Brien Road Footbridge will be very congested, and crowd management measures will be implemented inside the station.

Police further urge book fair attendees to consider taking public transport at the Convention Avenue bus terminus, the Wan Chai Ferry Pier, or walk towards the direction of Causeway Bay when exiting the convention centre.

Members of the public are advised to exercise tolerance and patience, and take heed of relevant announcements and police instructions on site.
