The Government said CCTV cameras at the Central Government Offices (CGO) have no facial recognition or any built-in or externally installed audio function.

It issued the statement tonight responding to media enquires arising from a news article on CGO security arrangements.

The statement said maintenance works were carried out at CGO to repair the CCTV system and other security equipment that was damaged on July 1. The works had been carried out according to established procedures.

The Government added that face detection is a common function for CCTV systems but such function has not been activated in the CCTV cameras concerned.
