Rehousing letters to be issued

July 18, 2019

The Housing Authority will issue flat offer letters to eligible households affected by the first phase development of the Kwu Tung North and Fanling North New Development Areas, the Development Bureau announced today.

More than 170 households affected by the first phase development will be allocated units in Po Shek Wu Estate. The authority will soon inform households by post.

About 10 other eligible households have been allocated rental units in existing estates under the Housing Society.

The departure deadlines for affected first phase development households range from the first half of 2020 to the second half of 2022.

For all private land affected by the first phase development, the Lands Department plans to commence the statutory land resumption process in the coming few months.

The department will then begin the disbursement of ex-gratia compensation to affected private land owners.

As for households affected by the remaining phase development which have applied for voluntary early departure from and surrendering of their squatter structures, their applications for rehousing and compensation are being processed.

The Kwu Tung North and Fanling North New Development Areas will provide 71,800 housing units. Population intake of the first batches of private and public housing is expected to start in 2023-24 and 2026-27.
