85 pollution convictions in April

The Environmental Protection Department recorded 85 convictions for pollution offences in April.

 

Ten were for air pollution, five for noise, two for water pollution, 47 for waste disposal, and 12 under the Product Eco-responsibility Ordinance.

 

There were also eight convictions under the Public Cleansing & Prevention of Nuisances Regulation, and one under the Dumping at Sea Ordinance.

 

The heaviest fine was $20,000 against a person for discharging waste or polluting matter into a water control zone.
