3 illegal workers jailed

May 16, 2019

Three Vietnamese illegal workers have been jailed for 15 months by Sha Tin Magistrates’ Courts.

During a joint operation with the Police and Labour Department in March, Immigration Department officers arrested three women who were working in a manicure shop in Shau Kei Wan.

The women, aged 28 to 37 are non-refoulement claimants holding immigration recognisance forms prohibiting them from working.

The trio were charged and convicted on May 15 for taking up employment in Hong Kong without the authority of the Director of Immigration or while being a person in respect of whom a removal order was in force.
