Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng gives welcoming remarks at the talk on the Foreign Investment Law of the People’s Republic of China.

Government officials and stakeholders today attended a talk on the Foreign Investment Law of the People's Republic of China.

 

The law was adopted at the 2nd Session of the 13th National People's Congress on March 15 and will be implemented in the Mainland on January 1 next year.

 

It aims to promote foreign investment, and protect the legitimate interests and standardise the management of such investments.

 

The Department of Justice and the Asian Academy of International Law jointly held the talk.

 

Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng gave welcoming remarks at the event.

 

Assistant Minister of Commerce Li Chenggang then gave a presentation on the rationales for enacting the law, its key features, how to fully implement it and how to create a better business environment for investment from Hong Kong.

 

Over 140 people including senior government officials as well as representatives from local and foreign chambers of commerce, business leaders, professionals and arbitration institutions attended the talk.
