44 pollution convictions in March

The Environmental Protection Department recorded 44 convictions for pollution offences in March.

 

Seven were for air pollution, five for noise, 12 for waste disposal, and 18 under the Product Eco-responsibility Ordinance.

 

There was also one conviction under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance, and one under the Public Cleansing & Prevention of Nuisances Regulation.

 

The heaviest fine was $40,000 against a company for failing to comply with noise abatement requirements.
