66 pollution convictions in January

The Environmental Protection Department recorded 66 convictions for pollution offences in January.

 

Three convictions were for air pollution, 28 were for noise, four for product eco-responsibility, 27 for waste disposal, and four for water pollution.

 

The heaviest fine was $25,000 against a company for using powered mechanical equipment otherwise than in accordance with permit conditions, and for carrying out prescribed construction work not in accordance with the conditions of a construction noise permit.
