Science contest applications open

December 3, 2018

The “SciPOP” Science Demonstration Contest is open for enrolment from full-time Hong Kong secondary school students aged 15 or above.

Organised by the Hong Kong Science Museum and the Education Bureau, the contest provides a platform for students to showcase their science knowledge and talent in science communication.

Contestants must conduct a science demonstration with the use of props or hands-on experiments.

They can choose their own topics under the theme of Technology for a Sustainable Future.

Each school can nominate a maximum of two teams with each team made up of four students.

Completed nomination forms should be faxed to 2311 2248 by December 28. Schools admitted to the contest will be notified by email at the end of December and by letter in early January.

Contestants must submit an overview and a trailer of their demonstrations during the preliminary contest.

Finalist teams will have to present a 10-minute science demonstration in Cantonese, English or Putonghua, at the final on April 27.

The top three teams can join the Young Scientists Study Tour 2019 to Singapore free of charge.
