Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Tang Ping-keung has been appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police.

He will take up the post on November 24 upon the retirement of Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Lau Yip-shing from November 24.

Mr Tang, 53, joined the Police as an Inspector in 1987 and was promoted to his current position in 2017.

Between 2006 and 2008 he was seconded to the INTERPOL General Secretariat in Lyon, France, and was promoted in the organisation to Head of the Criminal Organisation & Violent Crime Unit.
