The Environmental Protection Department recorded 33 convictions for pollution offences in September.

Seven convictions were for air pollution, five were for noise, 20 for waste and one was for water pollution.

The heaviest penalty handed down in the month was a $58,000 fine against a company for discharging waste and polluting matter into the water control zone.
