6.4t of American ginseng seized

Customs officers seized 6.4 tonnes of American ginseng worth $3.5 million at Man Kam To Control Point.
The ginseng was found in a container of an incoming truck at the control point yesterday evening.
The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department is investigating the case.
The maximum penalty for importing or exporting an endangered species without a licence is a $10 million fine and 10 years’ imprisonment.
