Gov’t delegates to attend UN hearing

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will send a delegation to Geneva to attend a hearing of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on August 10 and 13.

 

The delegation will be led by Under Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Andy Chan.

 

As part of the Chinese delegation, they will introduce the Hong Kong-related part of China's 14th to 17th reports under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, and answer questions on the convention’s implementation.

 

Delegation members will include officials from the Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Bureau, the Security Bureau, the Education Bureau, the Labour Department and the Department of Justice.

 

It will be the third time the committee has examined a report submitted by Hong Kong under the convention since 1997.
