Job agency licence revoked

August 7, 2018

The Commissioner for Labour has revoked the licence of Familia Employment Agency in Tai Po after the operator was convicted of overcharging three job seekers.

Under the Employment Ordinance, the Commissioner for Labour may refuse to issue or renew, or revoke a licence of an employment agency if the person operating or intending to operate it has contravened any provision of the ordinance.

Earlier this year, two employment agencies had their licences revoked while another agency had its licence renewal refused.

The companies concerned had provided misleading information to the Employment Agencies Administration, were involved in the financial matters of job seekers, failing to issue payment receipts to foreign domestic helpers (FDH) and failed to draw up service agreements with FDHs and their employers.
