Old streetscape photos on record
August 1, 2018
A total of 70 photographs showing buildings and the streetscape of Nathan Road in the 1970s were uploaded to the website of the Government Records Service today.
Transferred from the Lands Department, the pictures were taken for recording road conditions of the construction sites of the Mass Transit Railway from Prince Edward Station to Tsim Sha Tsui Station.
Some landmark buildings and household names of the past, such as the Astor Theatre, Tai Lin and Bargain, now reappear in these photos.
The public can view them at the Educational Resources Portal on the GRS website.
