CS visits Shue Yan University

July 18, 2018

Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung visited Shue Yan University in Eastern District today and met young people from the community.

Joined by two secondary school students participating in the Be a Government Official for a Day programme, he toured the university’s Research Complex, including the Jockey Club Multimedia Production Centre, a student dormitory and amenity facilities.

Mr Cheung was pleased to learn the Research Complex, which was built on land granted by the Government, complemented the university’s plan to strengthen academic research and extend the development of postgraduate programmes.

He emphasised the current-term Government attaches great importance to nurturing talent.

Mr Cheung then chatted with students who have participated in the E-League Programme and said the Government would listen and respond to the views of young people through different channels.

The programme was launched by the Eastern District Office and is part of the Government’s efforts to support youth development.

Mr Cheung wrapped up his visit by discussing local issues with District Councillors.
