There is no preset textbook for liberal studies, Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung says.

Speaking to the media today, he said there is no vetting procedure for textbooks on liberal studies.

"For liberal studies, there is no preset textbook. It is up to schools and also teachers to find the necessary information and to complement the necessary information for the teaching of the subject."

On the call to lower the university entry requirement, Mr Yeung said the current requirement was defined after a full discussion by the tertiary education sector and other groups.

Any change in the requirement needs community consensus, he added.
