June 23, 2018

Chief Executive Carrie Lam concluded her week-long French visit yesterday by meeting President of the Ile de France region Valerie Pecresse and visiting Schneider Electric's headquarters.

Noting Hong Kong is keen to collaborate with different French regions, Mrs Lam said Hong Kong and Paris have a lot of room for co-operation in areas including investment, innovation and technology, culture and youth exchanges.

She highlighted the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area, encouraging the Ile de France region to explore the bay area's huge market through Hong Kong.

Mrs Lam then visited Schneider Electric's headquarters. The French multinational corporation specialises in digital transformation of energy management and automation.

Mrs Lam toured its innovation hub to see the latest technology in energy saving and management, and smart solutions for various industries, cities and homes.

She said her French visit has been very successful, with members from different sectors of France learning more about Hong Kong's situation and expressing interest in strengthening co-operation with the city.

Mrs Lam also welcomed the signing of two pacts on strengthening co-operation between Hong Kong International Airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in management, aviation development and air cargo development.
