Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng meets British Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice David Gauke.

Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng has promoted Hong Kong as an ideal hub for deal making and dispute resolution to London's legal and business sectors.

Addressing a seminar held by the Hong Kong Association in the British capital yesterday, Ms Cheng said key players of the international business community, including those from the UK, can seize new opportunities created by the respective strengths of cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area.

She said Hong Kong's distinctive strengths as the most open and international city in China, its robust legal system, and expertise in legal and financial services, makes it an ideal hub for deal making and dispute resolution in the bay area.

She added enterprises can look to Hong Kong when tapping into new opportunities arising from the proliferation of intellectual property rights in the bay area and a wave of technological innovation.

Ms Cheng also met Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice David Gauke, and Chair of the Bar of England & Wales Andrew Walker.

She later called on Chinese Ambassador to the UK Liu Xiaoming.
