Civil service pay to rise

June 12, 2018

The Chief Executive-in-Council has decided to increase the pay for civil servants in the upper salary band and directorate by 4.06%, and by 4.51% for those in the middle and lower salary bands.

The Civil Service Bureau said today the decision was made after considering net pay trend indicators, the state of Hong Kong's economy, changes in the cost of living, the Government's fiscal position and other factors.

It added the Government will submit the pay adjustment proposal to the Legislative Council Finance Committee as soon as possible.

The pay increase will take retrospective effect from April 1.
