No politics in revised curriculum

May 26, 2018

Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung said there was no political consideration in revising the curriculum frameworks for the Junior Secondary Chinese history and history subjects.

Mr Yeung made the statement when speaking to reporters after attending a radio programme today.

He said the current curriculum, set in 1997, does not cover the development of Hong Kong.

Mr Yeung added Hong Kong’s development will be included under the Chinese history section in the updated curriculum.

“It is not a scrapping of the Hong Kong section, it is a methodology of teaching that puts the content of the Hong Kong development into the history of our country.

“There is no political consideration.”
