Music Office trainees to perform

About 500 Music Office trainees will perform in an annual gala showcasing their skills in April.

Pipa trainee Wong Fong and the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra will team up to play pipa concerto Little Sisters of the Pasture, while the ensemble's concertmaster Wan Sin-yu will perform the legendary violin concerto Butterfly Lovers with the Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra.

Other highlights include I Dreamed a Dream from popular musical Les Miserables, Dvorak's Serenade in E for String Orchestra and Shostakovich's Symphony No.5.

The concert will also feature Song of Love which expresses rich imagery of love, peace and nature, Mongolian folk song Herdsmen's Song, the vivid Zigeunerleben which depicts the free-roaming gypsy lifestyle, and Asuka portraying the ancient landscape of Asuka in Japan.

The show will be held at 3pm on April 4 at the Cultural Centre. Tickets are $80, $60 and $40 at URBTIX outlets. For telephone reservations call 2734 9009 or book online. Call 2796 7523 or 2582 5311, or click here for enquiries.
