Museums

Eye-popping illusions go on display
illusion
Illusion illustration: One of the many exhibits on show at the Science Museum.
*

A collection of amazing illusions that challenge common conceptions will be showcased at the Science Museum November 26 to March 26.

The exhibition features structures and images that will fool your eyes and brains, and offer fascinating insight into one of science's greatest mysteries - how humans think and perceive.

It includes a waterfall in which water drops hang, rise or zigzag through the air; a speeding model train that vanishes into nowhere; impossible objects and figures that defy common sense; static images and patterns that move and drift, pulsate and scintillate; straight lines that wave and bend; and, a host of interactive items.

Admission is $20, with half-price concessions for students, the disabled and the elderly.

For details visit the museum's website. For enquiries, call 2732 3232.
