Mainland theatre director Li Liuyi will present his latest work Prometheus Bound in November, transforming the ancient Greek tragedy into a dark comedy.
Prometheus Bound was originally penned by Greek playwright Aeschylus. Li unearths the absurdism in the timeless epic and explores the contemporary meaning of a hero without changing a word of the original play.
Performed by Li Liuyi Theatre Studio, the programme will have its world premiere in Hong Kong. It is part of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department's New Vision Arts Festival.
The programme will be staged November 11 to 13 at Kwai Tsing Theatre and will be presented in Putonghua with Chinese and English subtitles.
A pre-performance talk and a meet-the-artist session will be held on November 11 and 12.
