Renowned local soprano Francesca Chan will give an art song lecture series with demonstrations of Italian, French, Russian, German, English and Chinese art songs in July and August.
She will cover topics including singing skills and interpretations, poetic lyrics and its rhythm, and characteristics of various languages in singing.
Ms Chan's musical odyssey began in Hong Kong at an early age with piano lessons and she graduated from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.
She has collaborated with eminent pianists such as Geoffrey Parsons, Graham Johnson, David Harper and Roger Vignoles, and performed at venues including Wigmore Hall and the Royal Festival Hall in London and the Sydney Opera House.
The lecture series, presented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, will be held every Wednesday from July 6 to August 10 at 7.30pm at the Space Museum.
It will be conducted in Cantonese with special musical terms in English and other foreign languages.
