The 7th Chinese Opera Festival will open in mid-June with Kunqu opera performances commemorating the 400th anniversary of the death of Ming dynasty playwright Tang Xianzu.
The Zhejiang Kunqu Opera Troupe will perform Tang's masterpieces The Legend of the Purple Hairpin, The Butterfly Dream and four other excerpts.
Another festival highlight is the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe's performance of The Four Dreams at Linchuan.
Presented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, the festival will run from June 17 to August 14.
