Lanterns light up Lunar New Year

February 21, 2015
City lights

City lights:  The lantern display showcases Asian traditional wedding customs and cartoon-style ram-themed lamps.

The Lunar New Year lantern display Double Happiness will light up the Cultural Centre Piazza until March 22.

Pairs of decorative sheep lanterns dressed in a variety of ethnic Asian wedding costumes greet visitors in front of global landmarks such as Bali's Diamond Chapel, Vietnam's Notre Dame Cathedral and Turkey's Galata Tower.

There is also a lianli tree, which symbolises eternal love, standing on the piazza. Together with a large three-dimensional installation of the Chinese character for "Double Happiness", the tree adds a romantic touch to the event.

Admission to the Leisure & Cultural Services Department's lantern display is free.
