Erhu virtuoso to perform in HK

Award-winning erhu virtuoso Yan Guowei will perform with the Hong Kong Music Lover Chinese Orchestra in November.

 

The programme will include erhu solos Reflections of the Moon on the Waters and The Legend of Marquis Yi of Zeng; erhu concertos A Heroine and a Martyr and Erhu Rhapsody No. 4; and the orchestral pieces A Trip to the Ancient Tea Horse Road, Soaring Song and Song of Lishan.

 

Ms Yan has won gold awards at major erhu competitions on the Mainland and overseas, including the Gold Award in the 9th Erhu Competition at the Chinese Golden Bell Awards for Music in 2013; the Gold Award for Bowed Strings at the 2012 CCTV Ethnic Instrumental Music Competition - Professional Section; the Top Prize for Performance - Youth Erhu Section at the Wenhua Arts Institutes Awards; and First Prize in Erhu at the 2011 Taipei Chinese Instrumental Competition.
