Star Hoppers mobile app launched

September 26, 2014

The Space Museum has launched a free mobile application Star Hoppers, which integrates Chinese and Western star charts with information on astronomical events and related activities.

With its audio recordings and other features, users can identify celestial objects and constellations with their mobile phones or tablets and listen to related stories.

The app helps users identify celestial objects and constellations at any location with a real-time digital star chart. It can also identify celestial objects and constellations on the screen instantly when a user points the camera of their device towards the sky.

It can play back more than 200 bilingual audio recordings of basic information on celestial objects and asterisms in Western and ancient Chinese cultures.

Users can also enable the calendar function to receive the latest information on the museum's astronomical events.

The app is available on both iOS and Android platforms. Download it from the App Store or Google Play.
