Park applications handled correctly

September 19, 2014

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department says it will handle applications for using Victoria Park and Tamar Park for public activities according to its established procedures.

The department confirmed today it has received an application from the Civil Human Rights Front, under the name of the Confederation of Trade Unions, to hire six soccer pitches and the central lawn at Victoria Park from September 30 to October 1 for public gatherings.

According to the preliminary information provided by the applicant, a large number of participants is expected which will exceed the lawn's capacity.

Another large-scale activity will be held the same day on the six soccer pitches.

The department has asked the group to consider other venues.

It also received an application from the Federation of Students to hold public meetings from September 22 to 28 at Tamar Park.

The department is processing the application in accordance with established procedures.
