HK artist receives Fukuoka prize

Hong Kong performance artist Danny Yung has been awarded the Fukuoka Prize for Arts & Culture. 

 

Mr Yung was chosen for his contributions to the development of Asian arts and culture.

 

Principal Hong Kong Economic & Trade Representative (Tokyo) Sally Wong congratulated Mr Yung on receiving the award and thanked the Fukuoka Prize Committee for its recognition of a local artist.

 

Ms Wong thanked Mr Yung for his work in promoting cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and Japan.

 

Mr Yung is best known for co-founding experimental theatre group Zuni Icosahedron and collaborated with the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Tokyo in 2012 to stage the "Tian Tian Xiang Shang" statue exhibition in Tokyo.

 

 He also hosted a workshop in Iwate Prefecture for primary school students.
