Puccini's opera to be staged

September 15, 2014
Princess Turandot

Princess Turandot:  Turandot will be staged in December at City Hall with alternative endings.

Puccini's opera Turandot will mark the final 2014 installment of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department's Great Music series.

Puccini left Turandot’s final duet and concluding scene unfinished when he died. Franco Alfano was engaged to complete the opera based on sketches and notes left by Puccini. Later, Puccini's publisher commissioned the Italian composer Luciano Berio to compose a new ending for the opera.

Both the Alfano and Berio endings will be staged, making it the first time that both endings are presented in consecutive performances.

Turandot will be staged from December 12 to 14 at City Hall.

Tickets are available at URBTIX.
