Peter Yung classics to be screened

The Film Archive will screen four films by director and producer Peter Yung as part of its Movie Talk series in July.

 

The films are Opium: The White Powder Opera and The Rickshaw Boy, which will screen together on July 26 at 2pm, while Journey to the Cossacks will be shown at 7pm. Warlords of the Golden Triangle will be shown at 5pm on July 27.

 

The Rose Tattoo and James Wong Howe: Cinematographer made by cinematographer James Wong Howe, Peter Yung's mentor and lifelong friend, will also be shown as a double feature at 2pm on July 27.

 

A talk on Yung’s movies will be conducted in Cantonese at 4.15pm on July 26 in the archive's cinema.

 

Journey to the Cossacks is in Mandarin without subtitles, The Rose Tattoo and James Wong Howe: Cinematographer are in English with English subtitles. The other films have both Chinese and English subtitles.
