*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs officers seized 1,600 counterfeit items - 1,400 handbags and 200 watches - worth about $1 million.

Customs officers closed an upstairs showroom in Tsim Sha Tsui suspected of selling counterfeit handbags and watches to Japanese tourists. They arrested six men and a woman, aged 34 to 50, including two local licensed tourist guides and a shop owner.

They then raided a trading company in Tsim Sha Tsui, where they seized a batch of documents and computers for examination.
