2,208 tickets issued in road-safety blitz

*
Hong Kong Police

Police issued 2,208 fixed-penalty tickets and 248 summonses in 10-day, city-wide crackdown on driving offences.

Of them, 36.5% were issued for speeding, 12.5% for mobile phone offences, 7% for not wearing seat belts and 6% for failing to obey traffic signals.

Police officers visited 254 locations and distributed about 18,500 leaflets to drivers and pedestrians.

The leaflets encourage people to report undesirable driving behaviour. The campaign aims to enhance public awareness of road safety and eventually achieve the road-safety vision: 'Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong's Goal'.
