Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Stephen Lam says lawmakers' endorsement of the Race Discrimination Bill marks a major milestone in services and statutory provisions regarding anti-discrimination protection for ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.
He told reporters today with the new law and other administrative measures will better serve Hong Kong's various ethnic groups.
Mr Lam said the Government encourages an environment in which both Chinese and other ethnic groups feel part of the Hong Kong community.
In the coming months the bureau will devise guidelines with the Equal Opportunities Commission and four community centers will be formed to support services for ethnic minorities.
