International Kum Fai Construction & Engineering Company and Honest (C.K.) Limited have been fined $20,000 and $18,000 at Kwun Tong Magistracy for violating construction safety regulations.

The case arose when a worker died after falling more than two metres at a Yau Tong construction site November 17, 2006.

The Labour Department warned contractors failing to ensure site safety are liable to a $200,000 fine and 12-months' jail.
