UN sanction regulation gazetted

The United Nations Sanctions (Iran) (Amendment) Regulation 2008 has been gazetted and comes into immediate effect.

 

The Commerce & Economic Development Bureau today said the amendment seeks to implement additional sanctions against Iran imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 1803.

 

The amendment regulation provides for:

* a prohibition against the supply, delivery, transfer and carriage to Iran of additional nuclear-related items, material, equipment, goods and technology;

* additional requirements for the granting of a licence for the supply, delivery, transfer or carriage of certain nuclear-related items, material, equipment, goods and technology to Iran;

* a prohibition against making funds or other financial assets or economic resources available to additional persons or entities; and,

* a prohibition against entry into or transit through the Hong Kong of certain people.
