Man jailed for attempted ATM theft
*
Hong Kong Police

The District Court today sentenced a 26-year-old man, who was charged with attempted theft and conspiracy to steal, to 33 months in jail.

He was arrested after he withdrew money from an automatic teller machine on Kwun Tong Road with suspected fake ATM cards on October 3. Twenty suspected fake ATM cards, $14,300 in cash and 14 ATM transaction slips were found in his possession.

Officers found he had also attempted to withdraw money from ATMs in various districts last September to October. The cards were each encoded with overseas bank accounts and a four-digit personal identification number.
