Seafood swindle: Six vendors will be prosecuted for selling crabs of short weight.

*

The Customs & Excise Department will prosecute six seafood stall owners for supplying crabs of short weight.

Customs officers posed as customers and purchased crabs at marketplaces in Tuen Mun, Lau Fau Shan, Sheung Shui, Lei Yue Mun and North Point in February and March.

The officers then checked the purchased items with electronic balances. The crabs, which were tied with excessive weed, were short of the purported weight by up to 51%.
