Fight youth crime competition launches

Say no to drugs: Commissioner of Police Tang King-shing (centre) opens the fight youth crime competition.

*

Police are inviting entries in this year's fight youth crime competition. Launched today with "Combating Psychotropic Drug Abuse Among Young People" as its theme, the competition's application deadline is April 19.

The competition educates youngsters on the consequences of drug abuse, raises awareness of juvenile crime and encourages them to help Police fight crime.

Winners will be awarded scholarships and can represent Hong Kong as fight-crime ambassadors in an exchange tour to Australia in July.

Commissioner of Police Tang King-shing said through the contest's dissemination of anti-drug messages the public will learn more about the consequences of drug abuse on society, families, friends and themselves, and will make a more conscious effort to help fight crime.

Entry forms are available through the Police Public Relations Branch, community relations offices, the Junior Police Call, District Offices and Hang Seng Bank branches (except outlets in MTR stations and the Lantau Airport Railway Station). Call 2860 6143 for more information.
