7 arrested for fake Chinese medicine sales
*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs officers arrested seven people after seizing 31 boxes of counterfeit Chinese medicine "Colla Corii Asini" worth $3,500 from shops in Yau Ma Tei, Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui yesterday.

Officers raided five retailers and distributors. Six men and a woman were arrested, aged 22 to 49, including three company directors. They are now on bail.

"Colla Corii Asini" is a processed gelatin made from donkey skin. The packaging of the counterfeit medicine was similar to that of the genuine article, but was sold at half of the genuine goods' price.

Customs investigated after receiving reports from a Mainland trademark owner.
