HK firefighters team

Tough test: Eighteen Hong Kong firefighters are taking part in the world's 'Toughest Firefighter Alive' event.

*

A total of 260 firefighters from more than 20 countries and regions, including 18 from Hong Kong, will vie for the 'Toughest Firefighter Alive' title tomorrow.

The main event of the 9th World Firefighters Games, being held in Hong Kong this week, will take place at the Games Village at the Tamar Site.

The women's race will start at 9am, while the men's is set for 12.30pm. A prize presentation will be held at 4pm.

Another highlight of tomorrow's events will be a treasure hunt, which is open exclusively to overseas firefighters and their families. More than 110 participants will set off from the Games Village at 9am and take the MTR to six designated locations. On arrival, they will receive instructions to recover hidden traditional ornaments, to order and eat local dishes at designated shops and many other tasks.

The six stops are Ngau Tau Kok, Shau Kei Wan, Causeway Bay, Penny's Bay, Wong Tai Sin and Telford Plaza in Kowloon Bay. The competition is designed to test the participants' physical endurance, map reading and knowledge of Hong Kong culture.

Details of the World Firefighters Games are available here. The public are welcome to attend the activities and show their support for the Hong Kong team.
