Lifts proposed for Causeway Bay footbridge

*

The Transport & Housing Bureau has proposed providing lifts for a footbridge across Causeway Road near Shelter Street. Works are planned to start this year and take about 18 months to complete.

The works include constructing of two lifts, one at the northern side of the footbridge near Victoria Park and one at the southern side near Shelter Street; constructing a new staircase near Shelter Street; converting a carriageway into traffic island; temporary closure of sections of the existing carriageway, footpath and footbridge; and, ancillary works including drainage, lighting, and electrical and mechanical works.

People can inspect the plan at the Central & Western and Wan Chai District Offices, and the Hong Kong East District Lands Office.

People wishing to object to the works can write to the Secretary for Transport & Housing, 16/F, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong by July 15.
