York Chow kicks off Tokyo visit
*

Secretary for Food & Health Dr York Chow has started his four-day visit to Tokyo where he will meet Japan's Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Chinami Nishimura.

He will also visit the National Centre of Neurology & Psychiatry and the National Centre for Child Medical Health & Development that can serve as a reference for Hng Kong's plans for medical centres of excellence in paediatrics and neuroscience.

A meeting with the Senior Vice-Minister of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries Masahiko Yamada has been scheduled for Friday for the two sides to exchange views on the protection of food safety of aquatic products and the use of radio frequency identification techniques in food tracing.

Dr Chow will also visit two funeral facilities, Tama Reien and Kannai Ryokuen. Tama Reien was built by Tokyo's Metropolitan Government, while Kannai Ryokuen is a privately operated multi-storey columbarium installed with automatic urn-conveyance and online prayer systems.

He will go to Tsukiji Fish Market on Saturday to learn how the market handles food hygiene and safety issues before returning to Hong Kong.
