Dedicated tree-care body broached
*
Henry Tang sees tree-inspection demonstration

Wood check: Chief Secretary for Administration Henry Tang is given an example of tree maintenance measures in Victoria Park.

*

The formation of a dedicated body is being considered to co-ordinate tree management work and deal with tree-related problems, Chief Secretary for Administration Henry Tang says.

He told reporters today the move has been tabled in a tree management review which will end in June.

Other measures being considered are inviting local and overseas experts to consult on tree management and risk assessment, increasing staff training and support facilities, and enhancing the co-ordination mechanism for various departments responsible for tree care.

Mr Tang made the comments while inspecting tree planting and management work by various government departments this afternoon.
